The UK hairdressing industry contributes £6.3 billion to the economy, boasts more than double the average business owners aged 25 and under, and has experienced impressive growth over the past five years. But despite the success story to date, the industry now faces complex challenges that are threatening its future growth – even without Covid-19
A hair industry survey with huge significance
Hairdressing business owners share many of the challenges that are faced by the wider business community – lack of time, finance and business support. But these challenges are particularly felt in the hairdressing industry, due to the high volume of self-employed workers and the micro-size of the traditional hair salon business.
Creative HEAD has compiled two versions of major new hair industry survey in association with industry bodies the National Hair and Beauty Federation, the Freelance Hairdressers’ Association and the British Beauty Council, to help national and local Government better understand the UK hairdressing industry and the challenges it faces.
Please take this opportunity to tell Government about your business and to demand the support you, as hair salon owners and self-employed hairdressers, need to secure its future.
The findings of each hair industry survey will be taken into account in any policy-making and business support targeted at UK hairdressing, so your participation is set to shape our industry’s future. Thank you.
