Most Wanted and It List judges

Each year we bring together leading experts from hair, beauty, fashion, business and the media to independently judge your entries, it’s one of the main reasons why Most Wanted and the It List are so influential. Soak up what our previous judges have to say about what they seek in winning entries:

Errol Douglas

You only have a certain amount of my time, so make it matter! Here are five key things I look for when judging the awards:

  1. Proof that the individual has passion and conviction
  2. Whether or not the entrant has read the criteria properly
  3. Individualism and an entry that has a real voice and authentic imagery created by you
  4. Content that has a beginning, middle and an end – the full story
  5. To be taken on a journey of belief

Text content must be clear and straight to the point. Bullet points help to decipher the information while long winded paragraphs make it harder to pick out. Fancy fonts or boards doesn’t make a difference. It’s all about the quality of information given.

Demonstrate that you’re proficient at a range of techniques. Show that you have a clear point of view – that no matter the assignment, you’re able to bring an element of yourself to your work. Also important is taste – demonstrating you know when to push and when to pull back.

The most important thing is to be original, current, and directional! I want to see diversity and inclusiveness as a given. I love when something is heavily researched and has depth and emotion. The Most Wanted and It List awards really are a brilliant platform for you to be yourself – so be brave and don’t ever hold back.
