From top-notch seminars to summer fun, see what happened at the first ever JOICO Global Destination Education event
With endless networking opportunities, top notch seminars by industry leaders and a chance for some much-needed relaxation, the first ever JOICO Global Destination Education event had everything a hair professional could dream of, and much more!
Back in January, over 1000 stylists from all over the world headed to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for a week-long getaway that gave education events a whole new meaning. Industry icon Vivienne Mackinder, also one of the headliners of the event, opened it in serious style with an inspiring show, followed by a lively after party which started the week with a colourful bang – thanks to the impressive fireworks display.
After a fantastic first day, the excitement didn’t stop there – on the days that followed, European Design Team members David Murray and Ryan Nicoletti-Dowd showcased how to make healthy colour work for those that like to take their time with precision colour formulation, using Vero K-Pak Color. JOICO celebrity colourist Denis de Souza, plus JOICO guest artists Melissa Duguay and Zöe Carpenter showcased shiny and healthy ready-to-wear colour looks, using LumiShine® to create a soft red, a sun-kissed sombré and a beautiful blonde.
Color Intensity techniques were also showcased by creative colour stars Phil Ring, Larisa Love, and Ricardo Santiago, with finishing by Richard Mannah. Later in the week, Richard Mannah also presented A Cut Above, where he combined high-end cutting techniques & disciplines and translated them to wearable, trend-conscious styles. Mannah also invited surprise guest Mark Bustos onto the stage for a personal talk about his passion and goals.
Meanwhile, Amber O’Hara and Jenny Strebe both demonstrated their extensive knowledge, with O’Hara walking clients through balayage application, along with onstage partner Max Maisano showing “faux balayage”. Strebe also wowed the audience with her braiding expertise, sharing her knowledge ready for salons to put in place back at home.
During the week, Vivienne Mackinder also returned to the stage twice – first for Unlock Your Creativity, which was filled with lots of insight and first-hand knowledge from one of the world’s best. On the final day she also presented the new edition of Salon I-Deas, supported by colourist Phil Ring and JOICO guest artist Gion Vincent. The latest Salon I-Deas collection showcased salon-friendly cut and colour techniques, ready to be taught by JOICO educators all over the world.
Packed full of activities and seminars, the event was incredibly inspiring for all hair professionals who attended. No doubt the JOICO Destination Education for 2020 will be even bigger and better!
