Why I chose this lookâŚ
“This is antithesis of my usual style; I wanted to provide contrast to my first look and challenge myself to do something out of my comfort zone.”
My references
“There was more planning involved in this look. Iâve recently been watching RuPaulâs Drag Race and the wigs are amazing! I took inspiration from the show, combined with a Hollywood glamour wave, which is a favourite of some of my red-carpet clients.”
The creative process
My sister, Danielle Keates (colour technician at Josh Wood Colour), helped me colour the wig and I then spent the night before pin-setting and fixing. The style involved lots and lots of backcombing, with some help from Sam McKnightâs Easy Up-do spray. I then gently shaped it using my dressing brush and moulded the contours using a 25mm BaByliss PRO tong, lightly pressing it onto the surface of the hair, putting section clips along the grooves as I went and allowing it time to set. Once cooled, I applied a strong hold hairspray.”
What I love most about this look
“I really love the colour â itâs a cool, modern, coral version of that vintage Hollywood red.”
