It would be difficult to top Lopo Champalimaud’s awe-inspiring CV: co-founder of the first ever online market research company; managing director of European Lifestyle at; vice president of European Lifestyle at Travelocity; co-founder of Europe’s largest online hair and beauty booking platform, Treatwell… This magnate of a man is the very definition of an exceptional entrepreneur.

The dot-com boom was the making of Lopo’s remarkable career – the subsequent arrival of e-commerce enabling him to bring a brilliant business idea to fruition. It was after a stressful day at work and a yearning for a relaxing massage that Lopo identified a commercial opportunity, one he believed would benefit both consumer and professional alike. Despite several attempts to reach his local beauty salon by telephone and email, when the call-back finally came – alas, they were fully booked.

Lopo’s resulting disappointment and frustration sparked the genesis of Treatwell (formerly known as Wahanda) – a concept that would digitise the hair and beauty industry, in turn improving the consumer experience and easing salon administration.

Treatwell has gone from strength to strength and is now Europe’s leading hair and beauty online booking platform.
