After operating for 35 years, Charles Worthington is to hang up its scissors next January

Charles Worthington, one of the most iconic names in British hairdressing, is retiring and closing his business in January 2023.

Originally launched 35 years ago, Charles went on to redefine the modern face of British hair and customer experience in the salon. He also launched a hugely successful product line, a salon in New York at the turn of the century, and was the resident TV hair expert on Good Morning for a decade.

Earlier in the year, his Percy Street salon in London was shuttered, with staff moving to the remaining House of Charles Worthington location in Covent Garden. This will now close in January as Charles, his partner Allan Peters, and the team “hang up our scissors”.

“There have been so many highlights along the way,” says Charles, reflecting on his career. “We’ve been championed by the Fellowship for British Hairdressing, Look Good Feel Better (our principal charity partner), won multiple awards, opened a New York salon, maintained a highly successful partnership with L’Oréal Professionnel Paris, saw the development of our product line worldwide, witnessed our multi-talented exemplary salon team flourish, and of course had the pleasure of getting to know so many of our wonderful loyal clients.”

“We wish that our legacy will inspire the new guard stepping forward and carry the baton of our dynamic, unique hair industry,” he adds.
