Texture and nature, in all its glory
When we started out the year celebrating a new decade, no one could have predicted the immense change we all would face in the months that followed, but out of the restrictions of lockdown came a glimmer of something positive; a renewed appreciation for nature, itâs resilience and remarkability.
For our October cover shoot in partnership with BaByliss PRO, we wanted to revel in the extraordinary beauty of the wild and what better setting than a 200-acre conservation farm with a landscape of wildflower meadows, ancient woodland and natural ponds, brimming with life.
As Aristotle said, âIn all things of nature, there is something of the marvellousâ and adding to the marvels provided by Mother Nature was the job of Sam Burnett and Lisa Farrall, who came to create eight phenomenal hair looks that embraced movement, texture and beauty befitting the surrounds but also standing out in equal measure.
Soft shapes and natural-feel textures merged with bouncy ponytails, knots and intricate hairlines, demonstrating wearable yet editorial styles that feel very current and individual. Fashion embraced and juxtaposed the settings, with patterns, fluid cuts and flowing fabrics that sync with the flora and fauna, whilst dewy skin and soft pops of colour gave make-up a distinctly carefree edge.
A homage to the outdoors and that feeling of freedom and unpredictability it possesses, the looks are serving us one serious dose of freshnessâŚ
