Expert freelancer Cristina Fazzone reveals the products she is loving this summer including what will go the distance
Freelancers, theyâre certainly shorter of space and spend than your average salon-based stylist. Without the large stockroom or inexhaustible salon budget, how do independent stylists ensure they have the best tools for the job?
As itâs summer, and the season to get clients spending more on those white-hot cuts, bright-summer colours, and bouncy blows for office summer parties and more, thereâs never been a better time to get your budget friendly products in order.
Creative HEAD speaks exclusively to Cristina Fazzone, master colour expert, educator, and independent stylist on what products she is using to ensure summer successâŚ
The right tools for the job
“One of my favourite new colour products is Shinefinity by Wella Professionals. This damage free colour line is perfect for toning summer blondes and even for introducing a soft glittery pigment to those willing to go a bit more daring for the brighter months. Itâs quick to use and doesnât affect the natural pigment.
“I find a little goes a long way thanks to its gorgeous consistency, so itâs cost effective too. It also has a choice of developers for a thicker or looser consistency depending how you want to apply it.
“Another favourite tool of mine that Iâve used for years and really helps to save time smoothing out a blow dry or style is the Daroko Power Styler. This is a little ceramic attachment you put on the end of your hairdryer nozzle, giving the hairdryer a straightening like advantage to smooth the hair, I love it!”
Sensible summer spending
“Make an initial investment in great quality tools and products that last, so you can rely on them and not have to continuously reinvest.
“It can be tempting to go for a cheaper option of a product in the hope that it will save you money, but often it will end up costing more in the long run. The better quality your tools and products, the better quality your work too.
“For a long-term investment in a product you can always rely on Iâd highly recommend the Parlux hairdryers. They are sturdy, powerful, reliable, and last a long time. Iâve had mine for 10 years now and it is still going strong! â An initial investment but worth every penny.
“Lastly, for a finishing product that is beautiful on all hair types and lasts a lifetime thanks to it being a âlittle goes a long way’ product, Iâd recommend moroccanoil. The finishing oil treatment is nourishing and rich enough to leave the hair feeling super soft, yet it’s light enough that it doesnât weigh down the hair if you use the right amount. One little pump goes a long way, so itâs the perfect product to have in your freelancer kit for treating and finishing the hair.”
