Anniversary celebrations don’t get much bigger than this! Go behind the scenes with The Projects co-founders Lynsey and Tasha for their first ever shoot….

“We had a small opportunity to make this happen, so we decided to take it, throw ourselves in at the deep end and make it something amazing. We could have made it easier for ourselves by using a studio in Edinburgh for our first ever photoshoot, but we thought bigger. We wanted to take on the challenge and once our minds started thinking about how it could work the vision became clear. When we started the business, we vowed to always try to think outside the box – to do things that would differentiate us from other salons. It is important for us to stay fresh and current.

Ibiza is such an iconic place. It has everything you could want and you can experience it in many different ways. It is a magical island with so much beauty and our idea was to take different pieces from it for our shoot. We couldn’t have found a better shoot location; ‘Finca Legado Ibiza’ in Santa Eularia was everything and more for our vision. There wasn’t a part of the location that wasn’t photo worthy.

The concept was to visually express our brand through a collection of images. Our name, The Projects, came from a desire to remain flexible. We are inspired by nostalgic moments in time that hold an era of style and how they are interpreted in a modernistic way now. We incorporated subtle ’70s hints in our logo typeface’s and salon interiors, and this was the starting point for the collection concept also.

Through everything we do as business owners, both Lynsey and I want to show more of us and our personality and make it more of a bespoke experience for our clients and guests in the salon.  By doing this shoot I think we were able to do just that; we showed our style, what interests us and what we are all about. This photoshoot brings a cool factor to the salon which in turn attracts even more like-minded people who want to be a part of us and what we do.

It has been such a fast paced and exciting year for us both; it couldn’t have gone any better and it’s exceeded expectations. It’s amazing to watch how quickly our business has grown and we are thankful to be where we are and grateful that we did take that leap. There has definitely been more ups than downs and every day we learn something new!

The world is our oyster. We definitely didn’t come into this just to do a 9-5 job. We chose the name ‘The Projects’ with scope for exploring other avenues. Right now we are still trying to nail our first project before we move onto anything else. We have our salon refurb coming up, which will be taking place at the start of November. We will definitely be doing more photographic shoots in the future and we are already thinking about our next one!

The Ibiza shoot was our first experience of doing a shoot – it was new to us and we were completely out of our comfort zone but we are proud of what we achieved with it. We had the best time and it really excited not only us but our team at The Projects and our clients.”
