It’s the little things

The Stella McCartney circus rolled into Los Angeles recently to showcase the designer’s autumn 2018 collection, combining the starry world of show business (her father walked the runway with Ringo Starr) with a relaxed yet polished collection. The hair followed suit; easy, breezy, with the littlest of things making the biggest impact…

Heading up the hair team for Aveda was the brand’s global creative director, Antoinette Beenders. Her effortlessly cool styling worked perfectly with the easy, breezy clothes. Beginning with clean hair, Antoinette gave models centre partings before styling gentle waves. Her top tip for extra polish? “Add a chic, slight bend to it by curling large sections using tongs and pulling down on each curl as soon as it’s released from the iron to stretch it out.”

She then pulled back hair from the front of the face, pinning it just behind the ear. This small touch created a certain elegance without being too overdone, and allowed the hair to flow down in a gorgeous curtain. To add to this aesthetic, Antoinette misted Aveda Shampure Thermal Dry Conditioner over the hair to add a soft and refined texture. It was a simple style that showed off hair quality as the models flowed down the runway – because sometimes, less is more.
