Fashionistas will know that Alexander Wang has become THE most hotly anticipated New York show – in no small part thanks to Guido Palau’s free rein with the scissors and colour.
For SS17 Guido grabbed a razor (while Whittemore Salon’s Victoria Hunter grabbed the bleach) to transform 18 of the 55 models into raw ’70s, surf girls. Each look was razored-in to fit the individual girl – some with fringes, some almost verging on the mullet. “It’s makeover madness at Alexander Wang,” joked Guido. “It’s inspired by the sea and being in the sun to get that sexy, matte look. ”
Step 1: Start with wet hair. Prep the hair by spraying it heavily with Redken Fashion Waves 07 to get a bit of texture – that beachy, dry, salty look.
Step 2: Use a diffuser to scrunch the hair for added texture, and dry hair approximately 50 per cent.
Step 3: Run your fingers through your hair to add separation.
Step 4: Pump a small amount of Rough Paste 12 and distribute throughout ends to give it a chunky, matte feel.
Step 5: Part hair to one side
