Celebrity hairstylist Mark Hampton breaks down how he created two red carpet looks for Christina Ricci
He’s the man behind Christina Ricci’s red carpet looks, but how does Mark Hampton create a whole host of glamorous looks to complement each wardrobe choice? Aptly paying homage to her Wednesday Addams roots, Mark breaks down how he crafted two show-stop styes on Christina’s iconic black locks.
“At the Golden Globes, the hero tool to create Christina’s sleek look a was a 20-dollar Remington straightener. Christina really suits a bold fringe as it puts emphasises on her eyes,” he shares. “As her bangs had grown out, we decided to cut them back in a few days before the ceremony. I decided to go a bit shorter for a more dramatic impact,” he adds.

Step two: Add an invisible oil spray for a super sleek and smooth finish.
Step three: After blow-drying, straighten section by section with a straightening iron to finish the look.
Critic’s Choice Awards
For the Critic’s Choice Awards, Christina sported a feminine updo. The look was created using just four hair pins! “I wanted to keep volume and movement in Christina’s hair for a soft feminine look,” Mark explains.

Step one: Begin by adding a thickening prep style spray to wet hair.
Step two: Loosely dry the hair, using a Mason Pearson brush to smooth the hairline.
Step three: Once the hair is dry, use a light spray of heat protector and curl in small sections.
Step four: Use your finger to separate the curls and redirect the roots of the hair.
Step five: Backcomb the crown and smooth over to create that old school Hollywood glamour.
Step six: Sweep the hair back, leaving a couple of pieces to fall naturally and frame the face.
Step seven: Finally, twist into a bun and secure using hair pins, finish with hairspray to hold.
