Frederic Aspiras, the man behind the iconic locks of Lady Gaga, shares an exclusive step-by-step for her red carpet look at the Oscars
Looking sleek, chic and sophisticated, Lady Gaga walked the red carpet of the 95th Academy Awards sporting a clean french braid. Created by celebrity hair stylist Frederic Aspiras on behalf of JOICO, the look set social media ablaze, with fans declaring “she is the moment.” Lady Gaga was nominated for best original song for ‘Hold My Hand’ from Top Gun: Maverick.
Speaking exclusively to Creative HEAD, Frederic shares how he created the oh-so sophisticated look for the award-winning singer.
STEP ONE: Start by washing hair with JOICO Defy Damage Shampoo, and then apply JOICO Defy Damage Protective Mask to damp hair. Let it sit in hair for five minutes.
STEP TWO: Rinse, towel squeeze water out of hair. Apply small amount of JOICO Defy Damage Protective Shield and comb through prior to drying.
STEP THREE: Create a grip and hold for braiding by using JoiWhip Foam and apply evenly onto damp hair.
STEP FOUR: Use a large paddle brush and blow out hair using the direction of the braid. Add a slight bend to the hair with a curling iron to lend a little texture. The waves or curl in the hair sections of the braid will bend into your braid, and it will prevent your hair from sticking out of the braid.
STEP FIVE: Spray JOICO Hair Shake into dried hair to begin braiding.
STEP SIX: Begin on top of hair with a triangle parting. For added control and hold while braiding, dispense a dollop of JOICO JoiGel Firm to the back of hand and apply while cross weaving your three sections of hair. This provides a very smooth and flawless finish!
STEP SEVEN: Use a toothbrush and spray JOICO Power Spray to the bristles. Comb through the braid to polish and hold away fly aways.
