ghd unveils 2015/16 Style Squad

ghd have announced the line up for their new Style Squad creative team. Now in its fourth year, the brand’s search for a group of passionate and talented young stylists was their biggest ever, with over 200 applications submitted from across the UK.

Just 32 individuals were invited to audition at ghd’s London studio in Soho, with twelve lucky stylists then picked to join the squad. The 2015 audition panel included organic colour expert Karine Jackson, session stylist and ghd UK brand ambassador Zoe Irwin, multi-award winning salon owner and ghd education ambassador Ken Picton and Leah Walton, from the ghd art team.

Finalists had to research, design and recreate a look from their favourite clothing designer before presenting it to the judging panel, which also included Jo Robertson, ghd head of UK & ROI education and Lorna Baker, ghd lead educator & style squad mentor.

“Every year it gets harder and harder to choose the new team and this year has been no exception,” said Baker. “The standard was really high and the talent, skill and passion shone through. It is a massive achievement to get to the audition stage and everyone that made it should be proud of being chosen out of so many applicants. I am really excited about getting started with this year’s team!”

The ghd style squad 2015/16 will be given their first challenge at the London ghd platinum uncovered event on 15 June.  They will also be the first group given the opportunity to complete the new ghd styling graduate qualification.
