Celebrity hairdresser Lee Stafford has revealed that he is opening a new training academy in Croydon.
After talking about his desire to help mould ‘Michelin-starred’ stylists in February’s edition of Creative HEAD magazine, British hairdressing’s bad boy made good has just announced an educational partnership with London’s Croydon College.
Stafford and his styling team plan to visit the college regularly, where they will work with students, staff and employers. He has also committed to putting the college’s current hairdressing tutors through an intensive three-week training course, and promises there will be continuous professional development to ensure that staff are up-to-date with the latest industry developments and techniques.
“I am very excited to be working with staff at Croydon College,” said Stafford. “They are the perfect partners as they share the same passions, standards and dedications as Lee Stafford Education (LSE).
“I am so passionate about the hairdressing industry and I want to communicate through Croydon College what a great career it can be – the creativity, the diversity, the opportunities – but I also want to help to raise the profile of, and standardise the profession and make hairdressing an industry of which Britain can be proud.”
The new hairdressing academy is due to open its doors to fresh talent in September this year. Courses will be available for full-time and part-time students as well as apprentices, and a launch event will take place in April.
Lee Stafford will be sharing his industry wisdom at this year’s Salon Smart in April. Weekend tickets have now sold out, but a select number of day tickets (priced at £99) are still available.
