In a celebration of creative colour and negative space, Most Wanted 2022’s Creative Talent, Marlon Hawkins, wows the crowd at the L’Oreal Colour Trophy Grand Final in Dublin
Most Wanted 2022’s Creative Talent and artistic director at Brooks & Brooks, Marlon Hawkins, recently led the show team at the L’Oreal Colour Trophy Irish Grand Final. The show, which stunned the live audience, was heavily inspired around simplicity, creating a clean, blank canvas.
Titled ‘BlankSpace’, the captivating show transported the audience to a futuristic world where cyber chic met statement, runway styles. Marlon led ID Artists Mike DeCanter, Callum O’Donovan, Claudia Walsh, Orla Langton, Gemma Murphy and 2022 L’Oréal Colour Trophy Ireland winner Emma Marcey, leaving the audience in awe.
“As a colourist the most important part of creative or commercial colour is the negative space,” Marlon explains. “In a calm black void sparking creativity, ‘BlankSpace’ allowed me to create unique colour and silhouette, directing the audience’s eye to look differently and find the beauty in simplicity of the colour black,” he adds. “Creatively presented, as models moved around a digital maze repetitively, we morphed suited model/dancers to bring the blacked out set to life. Interacting with the models adds more layers in to what you see, a different shape, colour angle, silhouette. Metaverse meets reality, conscious of the individual, which has changed over the last five years.”
