Portrait and fashion photographer, film director, publisher, producer… Rankin’s name, work and business empire are synonymous with success – and world renowned.
Since embarking on a career in publishing in 1992 – co-founding (with media mogul, Jefferson Hack) the influential and now iconic magazine Dazed & Confused – Rankin has photographed some of the most important people on the planet, shot influential covers and campaigns for leading magazines, global brands and important charities, directed commercials, music videos, documentaries and award-winning short films, and published more than 40 books. His work has been exhibited in galleries around the world, and in his own studio space in London.
In 2001, Rankin and Jefferson brought a new title to market: AnOther Magazine, followed in 2005 by the launch of AnOther Man, and later AnOthermag.com, which currently sits alongside Dazed Group’s digital platforms, Dazeddigital.com and Dazedtv.com. 2011 saw the launch of fashion and culture magazine Hunger and Hunger TV.
And so, the Rankin-Irwin journey begins…
About Nick Irwin
Nick began hairdressing in the 80s in north England before moving to London to join Toni&Guy’s Art Team, where – under the mentorship of Anthony Mascolo – his editorial and high fashion hair skills were fast perfected and respected, and his career trajectory took flight.
In 2004, hair product giant TIGI International appointed Nick European creative director – and over the next nine years he would go on to lead the TIGI International creative team to global success and become the group’s global creative director and a member of the board.
But session’s where his heart’s at, so four years ago Nick took the decision to down tools at TIGI and go solo as an independent session stylist. Now, he’s getting booked to work with celebrities and on editorial shoots and advertising projects all over the world, while a close and successful working relationship with Rankin has seen his CV fill up with a multitude of high profile front cover and campaign credits.
