A 2022 twist on the styling staple, Tariq Howes combines early noughties nostalgia with some ‘footballer craze’ energy to deliver an evolution of the classic mohawk at The Coterie: In Session, styled live in front of a Manchester audience
Tariq Howes stepped up to create a modern mohawk shape, drawing on elements of its punk rock roots and its early ‘00s, highly groomed footballer popularity. He used his BaByliss PRO CustomFX Clipper and Trimmer duo to first make the line, softly, using his Clipper and then following with the Trimmer to sharpen. He used a curl sponge to coax out his model’s natural afro texture through the top and took things a step further by cherry-picking sections to twist tighter using gel.
