Hosted by award-winning journalist and brand consultant Sophie Qureshi – the former beauty and style director at Marie Claire, who has racked up more than 12 years’ experience writing and producing shoots for magazines including STYLIST, Grazia and The New York Times – The Coterie: In Session provides a unique opportunity to spend an inspired evening with two of hairdressing’s coolest talents.
Sponsored by BaByliss PRO, the event will provide unfiltered access to all the backstage buzz from guest artists Sam and Rebecca, who will share their essential session techniques and tips while styling LIVE on set. Plus, they’ll be ready to provide their take on looks you NEED to get prepped on, in time for the summer client rush.
Sam is an exceptional talent – not only is he owner and creative director of Hare & Bone – his successful salon in the heart of London’s West End, and a longstanding ambassador for a global professional brand, over the last eight years he’s been squeezing in an exceptional amount of session work alongside his business commitments – and built up an impressively high-profile client list along the way.
I have always been so inspired by the combination of live hair and open conversation so to be asked to get involved and share my work with my peers is a huge honour
Sam’s editorial work has been published in a multitude of magazines, including Nylon, Dazed, Notion, ES Magazine, Vogue and ELLE, he’s worked on brand campaigns for the likes of Google and Atlantic Records, and he’s led the hair teams backstage and on set for major fashion labels including Tom Ford, Issey Miyake and Yohji Yamamoto. And celebrities adore him! He’s styled Charli XCX, Dua Lipa and Daisy Lowe to name check just a few!
“I’m a huge fan of the The Coterie: In Session”, says Sam. “I have always been so inspired by the combination of live hair and open conversation, so to be asked to get involved and share my work with my peers is genuinely and a huge honour. I’m full of a combination of nervous energy and excitement about the night.”
In 2017 Sam took home Creative HEAD’s Most Wanted Hair Trend award for his “modern shag” look (pictured above right) – an image that unanimously won over the judges.
Crowned The It Girl at Creative HEAD’s 2017 It List Awards – just four years after relocating to London from her native Mumbai, Rebecca is fast making a name for herself on the session scene. A former stylist at Salako, she’s worked closely with leading session hairdressers including Guido Palau, Anthony Turner, Soichi and Gary Gill – frequenting the world’s fashion capitals as part of the backstage teams for the likes of Versace, Balenciaga, Dior, Marc Jacobs and Prada.
I believe that if you do what you love somehow you will find a way to get it out to the world. And that is exactly what is about to happen…
Still assisting but now a fully-fledged session stylist in her own right, Rebecca’s work has been published in hip magazines including Metal, Teeth and Wonderland – and she’s styled hair on campaign shoots for fashion labels Liu Jo Uomo and Caramel. Keen on coaching, Rebecca is also style director for independent in-salon educator, SENZI.
“My ultimate dream is to do what I love everyday, always to learn and most importantly to share what I know with others” says Rebecca. “I believe that if you do what you love somehow you will find a way to get it out to the world. And that is exactly what is about to happen; Creative HEAD has given me this opportunity to express myself and I absolutely cannot wait to do so!”
Taking place in the cool surrounds of an East London studio, you’ll be able to get up close to watch Sam and Rebecca working while also enjoying live interviews expertly conducted by Sophie. PLUS, tuck into canapés on arrival, enjoy drinks all evening, and take home a sought after BaByliss PRO goody bag. Be there!
