I’ve needed something new to get my teeth stuck into for a while now, but I didn’t know what it was that I wanted to focus my energy on. But this April, I’ve set my sights and the main project that I will be bringing to life is an additional location for The Social! We’re building an unreal garden salon in Leigh-On-Sea, Essex, where myself and my very own Wonder Woman – my partner, Lauren Porter –  will be working on our local clients in the area and creating content for brands that fit into our lifestyle, keeping everything authentic and real.
The second project I will be working on is a total refurb of The Social’s London location, with my good friend, model and the clipper necklace designer, Nathaneal Hunt. Even though there always been a natural progression within The Social, it’s now been five years since launch and I feel it’s time to change things up big time! We plan to still use the natural character of the space, but knowing what we know now after using and working there over the last few years, we want to maximise the full potential of the original freelancing studio.

Last but not least on the interiors front, co-owner (and proud new mummy!) Emma Jewell is relocating The Social, Lake District to a bigger and much better studio. In true ‘The Social’ style, this will be contained within a new collaborative building with other talented creatives, all helping each other push their dreams into becoming a reality.

As the freelance community is growing faster than ever, to keep up with the demand and constant new freelancers, independent educators and brands enquiring about and booking The Social space, we recently dropped our brand new app in collaboration with ‘Wheres It’s App’ to help make this process as seamless as possible.

I’m always on the search for brands that align with The Social’s ethos, and we’ve also started stocking Smith and Goat, who are an independent, family-run business that makes beautiful things – plant pots and trays, sinks, tables, counter tops and more – from concrete.

On a personal front, my main focus is to keep myself fit and healthy. Probably the most important factor, yet often seen as the least important when talking about business right?! One curveball is that I’m now obsessed with paddle boarding and generally being in the sea. I’ve a new found love for cold water therapy too, and I’ve just purchased a new GoPro to start capturing content relating to it all.

I’m getting stuck into my role as a mentor to mentees Tammy Neillings and Aisling Hurley as part of the Creative HEAD Activator programme too now, and this has been so much fun! We’re constantly in touch, sometimes just dropping in to sound things out, but also getting them involved with my education seminars and photoshoots.

I’ve created a couple of bespoke immersive experience days for them to be inspired and scale their individual progression, and we’re helping each other as we go. It’s really exciting to watch them both grow and smash those goals!

My diary is pretty full with education throughout the rest of year privately and with Davines which I absolute love. I really struggle to do things now unless I see any substance in what it is I’m being asked to do, and those sessions tick all the boxes. What more substance do you need other than sharing knowledge and helping others succeed? It fills the soul!

I’m also focusing on honing my skill set on photography and videography, which was brought to life when creating content for BaByliss through lockdown and giving the opportunity and time to explore this avenue. It’s really cool too to be able to help my friends independent business out along the way. Im still buzzing that my relationship as an ambassador with BaByliss is growing as we continue to work together on some very exciting projects throughout the year.
