Inspired by the California skate and surf culture, barber and BaByliss Pro ambassador Pete Cranfield has opened the doors to his brand-new barber shop Carve Barber & Lifestyle, in Hoylake, Merseyside.
From the fashion to the hair, the Cali sub-culture has influenced the decor and style of the shop. You’ll find rustic, wooden crates dotted around to support plants and hot cloths, as well as wooden, distressed paint shelves and pastel, plastic crates to house brushes and tools.
The shop features two chairs for a more personal, intimate, and relaxing experience, and the subtle aroma of incense sticks fills the air. On the walls – painted white with a teal accent wall – you’ll find framed, beach-themed imagery, as well as Pete’s Most Wanted Men’s Hair Specialist 2022 finalist card. Aztec, Cape Gang barbering capes and a striped, throw blanket are colourful finishing touches to bring the space together.
The intention from the start was not to build a brand solely based around Pete himself, but to create a space that people could come and enjoy men’s grooming in the fresh, exciting way which the shop delivers. Just six weeks in, and Pete’s books are full with new clients! The team is growing too, with barber David – originally from a barbershop in Berlin – already on board, and another member of the team starting in the next few months. A fantastic vision which is truly coming to fruition.
