In the fishing port town of Leigh-on-Sea, owner of Chopp Hair, Paul Phillips, brought the outside in for the salon refurb after being cooped up indoors during lockdown with a desperation for nature. With a glass extension offering more natural light and a chic touch to the interior, as well as three additional sections and an extra wash point, clients can expect birdsong and brilliant views as the great outdoors takes centre-stage during their appointment.
Inside, sleek mirrors and parquet flooring compliment the sandiness of the nearby beach. Paul wanted to allow for a space of mindfulness too. “As much as we could, everything was sourced and bought in the UK, aiming to be as sustainable as possible,” he says. Chopp’s salon transformation is part of a wider journey for the business, with handcrafted, locally made soaps for sale, as well as the salon promoting a sustainable, welcoming environment for all its visitors.
