NYFW – Public School A/W16

The show: Public School A/W16

The hair: Allen Ruiz using Aveda

The inspiration: Two very different time periods collided to create a faux-bob ponytail – the old glamour of the 1800s Wild West met the street-savviness of the 1970s Bronx. The bobbed style tucks into a coat collar against the cold winter winds.

The details: John prepared the hair to keep frizz at bay with the Aveda Smooth Infusion Nourishing Styling Creme and blow-dried the hair. The hair was ironed flat and a small hidden braid created from ear to ear at the back of the head as a skeleton for the style. The rest of the hair was pulled into a very low ponytail 2 inches below the nape of the neck. To transform it into a faux-bob, the elastic was pushed up and pinned to the braid, before the look was set with Aveda Control Force Firm Hair Spray.

The products: Smooth Infusion Nourishing Styling Creme and Control Force Firm Hair Spray by Aveda.
