Patrick McDougall, art director at Rainbow Room International’s George Square Salon, shares his top 5 Instagram Autumn/Winter to Spring/Summer transformations
“As we hit Spring, hair invariably starts getting lighter. For me, when lifting, the process is always to use a high quality bond connector such as Schwarzkopf Professionnel’s Fibreplex to protect the integrity of the hair, a lower level of developer and to process for longer to beat the brassiness. Also getting the toner right – whether in terms of colour selection, development time or adding a shadow root – can help elevate the quality and finish of the look. Here are my top five transformations from A/W to S/S!

Fighting the brassiness again to create perfect ash blonde
Chinese hair can be tough to lift but keeping the developer low and the processing time long helped me to create this blonde, whilst enhancing the condition thanks to a bond connector
Layered blonde, coppers and gold’s to create this hand painted bronde
Working on clients with low bases who are desperate to be blonde can always be difficult. I switched this client from a traditional foil application by another colourist to an all-over bleach to produce this beautiful blonde
