Miu Miu AW18

Jason Hogan, associate colour expert at Josh Wood Atelier, was part of the Josh Wood Atelier team colouring with Josh Wood, and under creative lead Guido Palau for Redken at the Miu Miu AW18 show in Paris. Here, he talks us through three of the colour looks he helped the team to create

“We coloured the models the day before the show at Miu Miu HQ. It was a wonderful atmosphere – all the models were in for fittings and final adjustments.”

The look: Palest Vanilla Blonde

In keeping with the ‘60s bad girl who has that devil may care edge, the blondes were lightened with Redken’s Blonde Glam lightening cream to pale yellow and, rather than toning, we balayaged through with Flash Lift lightener to lift pieces lighter to give some dimension to the hair.

The look: Raspberry Red

The reds were all lightened first – this really helps them pop and look much more vibrant. We didn’t want them to brown out or look too flat. We layered HD Resolution demi permanent and City Beats  direct dyes on this for that real intensity. Both vivid and organic, this shade strikes the perfect balance between natural and vibrant. Cool undertones make it suitable for sun-deprived skin, while a bright tone has the luscious appeal of spring flowers.

The look: Midnight Black

The blacks were layers of Redken HDResolution demi and Shades EQ gloss to give an heavy, inky depth to the hair. This colour combination can make for a really sleek, chic look, funking things up with an all-over colour. It creates a dark and sultry look, but with a cool edge. This hair transforms in different lighting, and the deep, dark colour leaves hair with great depth and shine.
