No time? No worries – create beautiful blondes in under 30 minutes (yes really)

Clients stopped getting their hair coloured in the salon, because they don’t have time? These two new innovations will soon get them back in the chair…

While many women love to indulge in the salon experience for hours having their hair coloured, a large proportion don’t have the time. In fact, one in five women cite lack of time as the reason they dropped out of salon colour*.  Money isn’t the issue; time is with 40 per cent of women with high disposable income saying they have ‘less time to pamper’. More and more clients are looking at ways to get their hair coloured quicker with Google searches for speedier colour techniques increasing by 518 per cent over the past four years

Both L’Oréal Professionnel and Redken recognise this increasing need for speed and have introduced respective services that cater to clients keen to get on-trend shades in less than 30 minutes.

Neville Hair & Beauty has introduced Instant Highlights by L’Oréal Professionnel and is promoting it as “the perfect lunch break colour service for the time poor”, says Elena Lavagni, owner and director of Neville Hair & Beauty.

Elena is keen to promote Instant Blonde (the name the salon has given this service) as a bespoke treatment that achieves great results in little time. “Whether it is reviving an old colour, someone looking for a low maintenance colour service or creating the perfect hair contour, Instant Blonde promises to deliver a natural result and safe colour,” she says.

And just because it’s quicker, doesn’t mean you need to charge less.  “We are charging the Instant Blonde service at the same fee as a half balayage. Although Instant Blonde is a speedy service, it requires a very skilled colourist and two assistants to be able to deliver the speedy service,” explains Elena.
Take note, these services are not for your all-over blondes or clients that have a full head of highlights, but for those that want a refresh or to go slightly blonder over the summer.

Meet Instant Highlights from L’Oréal Professionnel

This is the brand’s first professional heat-boosted lightening system that will cut your client’s service time in half.

The technology uses a three-part system to allow colourists to lighten up to six levels of lift on the hair in seconds. The combination of the Instant Highlights Heating Iron, Instant Highlights Lightening Cream and Instant Highlights Aluminium Foil work to ‘instantly’ lighten the hair in a controlled and even way.

And don’t worry, the Heating Iron won’t burn your client’s hair as it maintains a lower temperature of 140 °C and regulates this temperature every 0.2 seconds. The tool also features a unique separator, ensuring the plates do not touch.

There’s even a handy service menu for clients to choose from

  • InstaContouring– frame the face and accentuate facial features with clever contouring techniques and colour placement.
  • InstaLights – add beautiful strands of colour for a sunkissed effect or to gently brighten an overall look.
  • InstaRevive – revive and brighten grown-out ombré or balayage.
  • InstaPop – add pops of colour throughout the hair.

Meet Redken’s Flash Lift Express Blonde

Similar to Instant Highlights, Express Blonde focusses on providing up to six levels of lift in just 20 minutes. And it not only saves time, but offers six new ways to provide personalised, professional colour results to every client. It’s perfect for offering touch-ups for your blondes between services and, with Bronde back on the menu, you can use Express Blonde to create on-trend bronde blends for colour-shy clients.

Express Blonde Lightening Cream is specifically formulated to work with heat and can be applied on up to 15 meches, before you pass over the meches with the Heatcure Professional Tool. Redken promises this process will take no more than 20 minutes, but make sure to rinse and tone with Redken Shades EQ to perfect the personalised colour result.

With Express Blonde, you can offer your clients:

For blondes:

RAPID REFRESH: touch up and blend a tired balayage or highlights.

PASTELIGHTS: a pastel twist on your client’s usual blonde. Redken offers Pink, Peach, Blue or Green shades.

ICELIGHTS: a custom look ranging from subtle metallic pieces to an all-over frost gloss.

For brondes:

BRONDE BLEND: client like a (colour) virgin? They can be touched for the very first time with Express Blonde. Enhance your client’s brunette with customised hints of blonde.

BABYLIGHTS: touches of blonde for a contoured look.

SOMBRE: a warm and subtle blended ombre to suit any brunette.
