Create colour with impact, as PAINTER Paddy McDougall shares a coffee-infused step by step from his latest Indola Street Style Collection
A throwback to times gone by, ‘Retro Modern’ is all about looking back to move forward. Taking inspiration from the sixties, the look features a sharp pixie cut, mixed with coffee and chocolate colours to create an edgy, stand out result. Press play to take a step back in time, as Paddy shares how to create the look.
Alongside the step by step, Paddy worked with fellow brand ambassador Andy Smith to shoot the looks on the streets of Warsaw. A showcase of Indola’s take on the Fall Winter 2019 trends, Paddy says: “we created two distinct trends to communicate what we see as two of the biggest movements this season; embracing natural textures and 60s inspired detailing.”
To develop the story behind the trends, Paddy created two colour techniques to help capture and communicate each trend. For the ‘Retro Modern’ look, Paddy “worked with a colour blocking technique to update and accentuate the ‘twiggyesque’ details of the haircut.” In terms of colour palettes, he adds: “it was all about embracing ‘cool warmth’. Warmth can almost be a ‘dirty’ word in terms of hair colour at times, but we wanted to illustrate it doesn’t need to be. With the right technique and products, you can create something high impact that really works.”
