Our Guest PAINTER for October, Robert Eaton is an award-winning creative who colours up a storm at the Russell Eaton salons in Yorkshire. The new UK & Ireland technical director for Wella Professionals, Robert gives us the lowdown on his favourite look from his Colour Me+ at the TrendVision UK & Ireland Final

There was an audience of more than 700 at the TrendVision UK & Ireland final, and the show took months of planning. I feel these models particularly represent the Russell Eaton brand and what we’re about. These colours are extremely strong and the aim was to achieve two perfect berry shades with an immaculate shine.
I wanted to bring to life the full tonal family from Wella Professionals, focusing on a different selection of tones with each model duo. In this case, I wanted to show the incredible results achieved using the new Wella Professionals Koleston Perfect ME+.
Colour wise, I worked on a marbleised blend of plum, purple, mahogany and magenta. The strong bowl shape helped to show these colours in an ultra-modern and simplistic way.
Diversity played a significant role in my collection. It was very important to me to show how as colourists, we now need to have the skills and technical knowledge to work with colour on all hair types and textures.
Look one
I worked on a wig for both looks. This had a light blonde base with a level 10 and pale yellow undertone. I took curved segment shaped sections around the shape, beginning at the nape of the haircut and working towards the front hairline using the following mixtures from root to tip:
Wella Professionals Koleston Perfect ME+
55/65 + 4% Welloxon Perfect Developer
55/65 + 0/65 mix tone + 4% Welloxon Perfect Developer
10/88 + 55/56 + 0/65 + 4% Welloxon Perfect Developer
10/88 + 0/65 + 0/88 + 4% Welloxon Perfect Developer
These colours were applied following the shape of the hair. I applied a global application of colour, with darker throughout the nape through to being lighter and brighter at the front sections. This created the perfect base with depth and tone
After the hair was washed and dried, the second stage was to colour the hair to ‘polish’ it and add extra intensity. I worked with Wella Professionals Colour Fresh Create to give intense shine and gloss. This was applied in a marbleised way to inject different shine bands and areas of colour intensity to the shape.
I worked with New Blue, Ultra Purple, High Magenta and Next Red. This double layer of colouring created an intense, shiny finish and when the light hits it, the reflection is incredible.
Look two

Here we worked with the same technique but used the following colours:
55/66 + 4% Welloxon Perfect Developer
55/66 + 0/66 mix tone + 4% Welloxon Perfect Developer
10/88 + 55/66 + 0/66 + 0/88 + 4% Welloxon Perfect Developer
9/16 + 55/88 + 0/66 + 0/88 + 4% Welloxon Perfect Developer
These colours were applied following the shape of the haircut. A global application of colour was applied, darker throughout the nape through to being lighter and brighter at the front sections. This created my base colour.
Next, I worked with Color Fresh CREATE to provide and intense shine and gloss and inject different shine bands and areas of colour intensity. This gave the colour a marbleised look and high definition finish. I worked with New Blue, Ultra Purple, High Magenta, Pure Violet and Tomorrow Clear.
These shades were used to give a more intense finish, more shine bands of purple, violet and blue and to add an extra level and shine to the finish.
