Yellow shows no signs of getting mellow, so this gritty twist on the shade by Linton & Mac’s colour expert Sarah Black is perfect for this season. She explains why it’s the right time to light up and embrace this grungy tone…
Those looking to shake things up this can take their colour into this darker version of blonde thatâs set to be huge next season – Tobacco Yellow is smoking hot in more ways than one. This is a version of the Gen Z yellow colour trend we saw so much of last season, but this incarnation is made more wearable by creating a dirtier, muted finish. I look at that as my  âsignature colourâ, as all my favourite palettes and tones have a slightly dusky finish. I love taking a colour trend and making it my own.
I think youâve got to brave to pull this colour off. The girl I envisage wearing it isnât super polished – she has a fierce attitude. I think weâre going to see the yellow obsession move to a more mustard tone for Spring/Summer 2019, evolving from the canary and neon yellows of seasons past. This trend is a more edgy, wearable version and perfect for girls looking to shake up their colour.
My formula:
On a base pre-lightened to level 9 (working with a 7 week re-growth) I used 50g Sun Yellow + 10g Electric Purple, from the LâOrĂ©al Professionnel #COLORFULHAIR range
