Sharon Brigden, SLBPR founder

Sharon will be the first of our SELF/HELP sessions, talking about all things awards and competitions. A digestible half-an-hour of golden guidance about how to maximise your competition process – from creating award-winning entries to getting the best publicity possible.

Sharon with client Andrew Barton

As the founder of SLBPR, a creative communications agency focused on public relations, events and social media management, Sharon will be discussing how to take news of your achievements further, with advice on how to befriend the local press and see your public profile rise.

Over the years she has helped countless clients to reach the top of their game – including through big wins assisted by impressive award entries. She’ll also touch on her unparalleled understanding of what judges are looking for when you enter competitions, and knowledge on how to ensure you stand out from the crowd.

Kara Curtayne, creator of Karaccounts

Looking to see those zeros stacking up in your account? Next up for the SELF/HELP sessions is digital-savvy accountant Kara Curtayne, here to let you know which money matters should be most important for you! Kara is an experienced accountant who created Karaccounts with the aim of taking the hassle out of accounting through modernising and digitalising old-school practices.

Particularly passionate about making accountancy more accessible and understandable for small business owners, Kara’s Money Matters session will cover a range of freelance-focused topics. So, if you’ve ever wondered when it’s best to incorporate vs sticking as a sole trader or want to be sure of key thresholds to look out for, as well as the easiest ways to manage your accounts – Kara will be answering it all!

Her matter-of-fact and straight-forward approach to an ordinarily daunting topic will leave you feeling inspired to get those books in order – and that’s a promise.

Hayley Jepson, AKA The Resilient Hairdresser

Last, but by no means least, the SELF/STYLED Sunday extravaganza will be finished off by the incredible Hayley Jepson, also known as The Resilient Hairdresser.
