Now that we’re into the home stretch to summer you can catch your breath a bit – and catch up with us! If you’re new to SELF/STYLED Sunday events, now is the perfect time to discover our digital event series to keep you connected and clued up, with content catered specifically for freelance hairdressers. SELF/STYLED Sunday makes a welcome return on 18 July, in association with our event partner Aston & Fincher. Editor Deborah Murtha will be hosting you all once again, bringing you a full day of content to help you feel pumped up and ready to take your career to fresh heights.

SELF/MADE MASTERCLASS with L’Oréal Professionnel Paris

Multidimensional Colour

We’re so looking forward to this creative colour masterclass, all about how to use multi-tonal colouring techniques to give your client that bespoke finish they crave. Led by the incredible, multi-award winning Claire Chell at Francesco Group for L’Oréal Professionnel Paris, this hour-long masterclass will be focusing on commercial and versatile techniques, adaptable for any client with hair below jaw length. Claire will also be using and sharing her top tips on the new disruptive innovation from L’Oréal Professionnel Paris, Metal Detox.

Award Season Advice

So you’ve put yourself out there and entered our Most Wanted and The It List Awards – where do you go from here? SLBPR founder Sharon Brigden will be joining SELF/STYLED editor Deborah Murtha to chat through how to maximise your competition experience.

Made the cut for the finals? Great job – here’s how to share this news, and any other top achievements, with your local press. If you missed out on a shortlist position, don’t worry because Sharon also has advice on how to create a winning entry for next time.

SELF/HELP Session with Karaccounts

Money Matters

Kara Curtayne is an experienced accountant who created Karaccounts to be a modern, digital practice. She loves to work industries like ours, with go-getting individuals who are adaptable to change, open to new technology, and is ready to make the drudgery of bookkeeping and accounts history.

Her presentation will cover a range of freelance-focused topics, including when it’s best to incorporate vs sticking as a sole trader, important thresholds to look out for, the easiest ways to manage your accounts, expenses and making tax digital – all the good habits to get into now, ahead of the rule changes in 2023.

SELF/MADE MASTERCLASS with Pulp Riot

Welcome to the Riot

We are pumped up and SO ready to welcome Pulp Riot to SELF/STYLED Sundays! This packed hour-long masterclass will feature the uniquely colourful talents of Laura May Stevens (who you may have seen painting up a storm in May’s Pulp Fest event!) and Christabel Legrand. This dream duo will be working together to unveil some Pulp Riot vivid and natural colour techniques to inspire your clients to change up their canvas. Chrissie will covering all things vibrant with Pulp Riot’s semi-permanent colour range, while Laura keeps more natural with the new Liquid Demi colour line.

ASK AN EXPERT with Hayley Jepson

There’s a very good reason that Hayley Jepson is known as The Resilient Hairdresser. She worked for years as a hairdresser before training as a psychotherapist, so she perfectly understands the unique stresses of our industry and, most importantly, how to help.

Hayley will be joining Deborah in an insightful Q&A session, ready to answer any questions you have about how to balance your work and life, cope with change and many other aspects of stress, in order to avoid the dreaded burnout.
