Eugene Souleiman for Wella Professionals and ghd
Most Wanted Hair Icon 2018 Eugene Souleiman looked to nomadic culture to create a look with a soft cobweb texture and small accents. Using the ghd air hairdryer he bent hair into a slight S shape, then created small rope braids twisted with black elastic. Hair was raked back into a low ponytail and secured, then pressed with the new ghd platinum+ styler and sprayed with Wella Professionals EIMI Mistify Me for a harder, worn in finish. It was a look of beautiful imperfection – “as if the girls had been in the desert wearing a beanie hat for two days”.
House of Holland
Syd Hayes for BaByliss PRO
For House of Holland S/S19, Most Wanted Session Stylist Syd Hayes and the #SydSquad created the ultimate in beachy waves, a fresh out of the pool style that was super easy but “super-hot.” The 25mm BaByliss PRO Titanium Curling Iron was used to give relaxed, undone waves, then a blob of gel was added to give some hold, with the models’ hair given one final spritz of water before hitting the runway.
Mary Katrantzou
John Vial for Revlon Professional
Mirroring the decade of influences blended into Mary Katrantzou’s landmark S/S19 collection, John Vial combined techniques to create a multi-textured hair look across 40 models. Fifty per cent Little House on the Prairie, fifty per cent bad girl glamour, the resulting ponytail had glossy, slicked back sides thanks to generous use of Revlon Professional Style Masters Hairspray Number 2, and a fuzzy Mohican of back-combed texture across the crown.
Simone Rocha
James Pecis for KMS
Like cool tomboys who are dressed up in their Sunday best – but on their terms – the Simone Rocha SS19 hair was full of tempered attitude. Inspired by the Qing Dynasty in China for its adornment, James Pecis used KMS products to create this texturised twist on a neat up-do. Hair was prepped with lashings of ADDVOLUME Root and Body Lift, with HAIRPLAY Playable Texture layered on top for even more movement, height and body. Low ponytails were kept interesting with braids on either side, pinned together at the back to create a horizontal line. Stylists used rollers to create a crescent up-do shape, while messy pieces pulled out at the front kept the tomboy, careless attitude clear.
Alexa Chung
Alex Brownsell for L’Oréal Professionnel using Dyson Professional tools
The hottest hair in the departure lounge was the vibe created by Alex Brownsell for Alexa Chung’s first ever LFW show. Hair was prepped with L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.ART Liss and dried using the Dyson Supersonic hairdryer Professional edition with diffuser on a high heat, low speed setting to help mould the hair into loose waves. Using hair nets and Tecni.ART Pli, Alex set subtle cowlicks and dents as if the models had fallen asleep on the place. The ends were polished with a dab of L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.ART Liss Control+ serum and the hair given a slight static using a nylon hairbrush. To capture the whole mood L’Oréal Professionnel Infinium Pure soft hold hairspray was misted gently over the hair.
Victoria Beckham
Guido for Redken
Victoria Beckham’s London homecoming was a celebration of everything her brand stands for – easy, slightly boyish beauty with a heavy dose of luxury. Redken global creative directot Guido flew in to create the hair, and began by layering Redken Glow Dry Style-Enhancing Blow Dry Oil and Redken Fashion Work 12 around the head, before combing hair backwards off the face, leaving comb marks intentionally. The lengths were given a light wave using a curling tong, and Redken Shine Flash 02 was misted over for added gloss and polish.
Mark Fast
Maria Kovacs for TIGI
It was a desert goddess emerging from a sand storm at Mark Fast, with TIGI European session director, Maria Kovacs, delivering alluring, sexy and dangerous. How? With lashings of crimping for that dry, textured fullness any sandy siren would be working, pulled into a pony and, in some cases, additional elastics added for a sectional finish. On hand to help were TIGI’s BedHead by TIGI Queen For A Day, Oh Bee Hive and TIGI Copyright Volume Finishing Spray. Hot stuff and no mistake.
