What you could learn at SELF/STYLED Sunday 29 May

We’ve got an all killer, no filler line-up for our SELF/STYLED Sunday event on 29 May – here’s a taste of the education that you can expect, focused on ‘The New to Know’

Education, and keeping up with all things NEW, is expensive – particularly as a freelancer, and particularly given the cost of living criss that rages on around us. Which is exactly why we’re committed to building affordable, accessible content for self-employed hairdressers with our SELF/STYLED Sunday events.

So affordable, in fact, that it is FREE to attend. We have four sessions running from 10am on Sunday 29 May, all held on Zoom so that you can tune in wherever you are. PLUS, when you watch live, you’ll receive an exclusive discount code from our brilliant event partners Aston & Fincher.

Here’s a little taster of the skills you could be walking away with…

Excite with extensions

If you’ve always assumed that your clients ‘aren’t the extensions type’ then you could not be more wrong! Who wouldn’t want more volume and healthy-looking locks in just an hour?

Adam Wright joins us at 10am to introduce viewers to the various ways that Great Lengths extensions can bolster your clients’ locks AND your income. As Great Lengths’ business development and education manager for Ireland, he’ll be showing you how you can transform clients’ looks in just an hour-long appointment with GL tapes, as well as answering any questions you have about how to incorporate extensions into your service offerings.

The ins and outs of influencers

Working with local influencers can have a massive effect on your business – and we’re not just talking about inspiring new clients to book in. It’s all part of a wider strategy to get your business seen by the right people, whether that’s prospective clients or brands you’d like to work with.

Katie Braden, an experienced PR who has worked on influencer strategy with the likes of INNOluxe and Kevin Murphy, will be sharing the do’s and don’ts of working with influencers. It’s not as simple as just sliding into someones Instagram DMs! From the most important things to consider when picking your influencers, to key etiquette advice, Katie’s 30 minute session at 11.15am is definitely not one to miss.

The importance of colour placement

For many colourists, up and down the country, the vast majority of clients won’t be asking you for rainbow panels or pops of vivid shades… but it’s absolutely possible to think outside the box while still working in the shade range you, and your clients, are most comfortable with. Frazer Wallace, educator for L’Oréal Professionnel Paris, is an expert in this field and his hour-long masterclass will set you up with plenty of new ideas.

By focusing on placement, more than wild colours, Frazer will showcase multiple looks that have been amplified by L’Oréal Professionnel Paris’ colour range. His key focus? Making sure you can create something to excite your client that is still feasible within a shorter appointment time. Tune in at 12pm ready to learn!

Eye-catching, shine-giving services

Clients, more than anything, fear damage when it comes to colour. Set their minds at ease with the latest innovation from Wella Professionals: Shinefinity! This game-changing gloss has zero lift and zero damage, and has all kinds of potential for clients – from a clear gloss finish to a toning temptation.

James Earnshaw, UK&I digital ambassador for Wella Professionals, returns to SELF/STYLED Sunday once more to demonstrate multiple looks to highlight Shinefinity’s versatility, all with his signature twist for modern, must-have colour. This hour-long masterclass starts at 2pm.
