Keep the heat on warmer hues this summer with some top trend predictions to use in your colour work
As a copper hair educator, Rachael Lomax always has her eye on the next copper colour trends we can expect to be blowing up online. “I’m passionate about copper hair changing with the seasons, it’s all about creating the journey,” she says. “With coppers it’s all about really analysing what tones we see all around us.” Now we’re officially in summer, Rachael is looking to fashion and nature for the warmer months ahead, then using this inspiration to interpret how those tones work best for her guests.
“As some people may know, swatching and formulating is my passion,” she adds. ” Playing with colour and pigments is how I see that I can change up my formulas.”
For summer, Rachael forecasts a lot of peach coppers, as well as really rich, bright golden orange hues – think sunset coppers. As well as the more vivid results, Rachael also predicts that mushroom copper will be big for those looking for a more natural finish. “Sometimes our guests may want to be more of a subtle copper, so using earthy tones such as greens and ashes can really make these beautiful mushroom coppers,” she explains. “This can fit with those other shades, giving it a beautiful melt or copper balayage.”
While mushroom copper may not be a tone many are familiar with, for Rachael it’s very much a colour she works with on a regular basis. “I see colour as well as understanding colour theory, and it’s one of the shades I love to create,” Rachael enthuses. “I’m all about using the science behind those natural coppers to create beautiful, unique tones. How I do this is using this knowledge as well as the colour wheel to create those beautiful shades.”
Seeing is interpreting! We are all colour designers in our own right,” she adds. “Copper Queen Education allows you to take it to the next level, offering you new ways of working with copper hair.”
