Stā Studios promises a new era for the industry – combining salon luxury with a co-working space
The hairdressing and barbering industry is ever evolving, continually being shaped and re-shaped by the creatives paving their own paths, with more hair pros than ever joining the freelance and self-employment world. During such a seismic shift, it’s vital for the industry to offer fresh, exciting spaces to work from. It’s no longer enough to offer chair rental, creatives are crying out for content creation studios, podcast recording booths, modern styling stations and much more besides.
Born out of the desire to bridge the gap between a luxury salon environment and a co-working space, Stā Studios is the brainchild of co-founders Samantha Cusick and Gregory Thomas. Described as a “high-end, multidimensional co-working space for creatives in the hair and beauty industry,” Samantha and Gregory are on a mission to empower freelance hairdressers through offering a more modern and thoughtful workspace and community.
As founder of two hugely successful London salons, Samantha is bringing her keen eye for detail and experience of curating luxury, inviting spaces to the world of co-working. Just a stone’s throw away from Liverpool Street Station, Stā Studios is a 3,500 sq ft space which will allow clients, contacts and press to easily reach its members. The brand-neutral space includes 18 workstations, flexible meeting areas, an open community lounge, content creation suites and podcast booths. The two-story location will also house a coffee bar, colour bar and technical shop, giving members the chance to purchase colour at trade prices.
Whether established or new to the independent career path, Stā Studios will be a space to facilitate and elevate everyone’s growth. It is designed to be a space to grow, to belong, to create, to connect. It also offers the community element which is often lacking from the independent model. For Samantha, it’s a space she wishes existed when she was looking to start her own business. It’s also an opportunity to show freelancers what she has learnt from Samantha Cusick London, as well as offering a home from home and creating a sense of belonging for all members.
Stā will offer everything an independent creative needs to grow their business. From client booking software, to a front of house co-ordinator, and even assistants to help with client services, everything is considered. The venue will also be available for event hire, making it a truly unique location to bring creative visions to life.
Set to open next month, the site is currently a hive of activity as all the fixtures and fittings are completed. To kickstart the buzz, Samantha recently hosted a pre-launch ‘hard hat supper club’ for a vibrant mix of creatives. The building site was transformed into a haven of good food, music, and conversations. A taste of what’s to come, it perfectly captured the endless creativity which will fuel Stā Studios long after launch.
As the countdown to opening nears closer, stay tuned for more updates in the weeks to come!
