RICKY WALTERS #SalonSmartLive21
Salon owner Ricky Walters left school at the age of 16 with few formal qualifications but a surfeit of ambition. He moved to London to better his career opportunities, and found work at a salon located within a five-star hotel. Filled with determination to achieve more, at just 21 years old, Ricky wrote a business plan and left it on the hotel manager’s desk, accompanied by a handwritten note reading: “I will fix your salon”. And he did.
Hungry for the next challenge, Ricky began raising investment for a fresh business venture – a part salon, part private members club, part comfortable place simply to pause and charge your phone or fix your makeup. In 2017, SALON64 was born – a beautiful creative space in London’s Soho.
Since launching, both the salon and Ricky have been featured in the Evening Standard, Tatler, Harper’s Bazaar, Forbes, The Daily Telegraph, Daily Mail and many more top reads. Plus, Ricky’s business prowess has been rewarded with a trophy, too! In March 2021, he was named ‘The Entrepreneur’ at the 2021 It List Awards, presented by Creative HEAD magazine in exclusive partnership with ghd.
