Innovator, rule-breaker and passionate advocate for professionalism in our industry, Casey Coleman is not only the founder of CHAIR salons in Cardiff, he’s the man behind Patch Test Party, a rather brilliant – and fun! – initiative to encourage colour clients to have their skin tested before treatment – thereby protecting colourists from potential lawsuits. “Around 50 per cent of salons skip that requisite patch test,” says Casey. “And yet, so many factors can increase the chance of an allergy, regardless of whether clients have coloured their hair in the past or not, including semi-permanent tattoos, a break from colouring and changing their base level by two shades. Making more people aware of these factors is vital to Patch Test Party.”
