RE-INVENTION HOUSE
16:10, Sunday 24 March – RIPE FOR REINVENTION
18:45, Sunday 24 March – MEET & MIX
Staff headaches, employment red tape, VAT bills… Ever fantasise about walking away from it all? Jak Bakewell did precisely that. He closed his Reinvention salon in the affluent Lincolnshire town of Louth, bought a property two streets away and opened Re-Invention House, a boutique offering that is utterly customer-focused.
With him is stylist Scott McKay-Wood, and together they oversee a business that has no staff and a much smaller turnover, but which is operated on a much grander scale. Guests must be sent a handwritten invitation from Jak and/or Scott to book an appointment, and are given a completely bespoke price list for the services the duo think would be appropriate.
Some salon owners would be concerned about the lack of turnover, but not Jak. “It’s the best decision I’ve ever made,” he says.
