The Coterie (it’s a French word meaning ‘a meeting of like-minded people’) is a networking event formed in 2010 by Creative HEAD magazine to allow professionals from the worlds of hair and fashion to come together to share ideas and experiences, discuss topical issues, and to connect with one another.
Dealing with topical issues and sharing career experiences, members can look forward to solo talks, panel debates, and exclusive interviews with the best names in the business. Speakers to date include leading names in hair for runway, film and editorial such as Guido, Sam McKnight, Adam Reed, Nicola Clarke and James Brown; make-up artists Lisa Eldridge and Sharon Dowsett; fashion designers Charles Jeffrey, Bora Aksu and Henry Holland; representatives from artist agencies including Streeters London and Premier Hair & Make-up; nail artists Marian Newman and Sharmadean Reid; leading beauty journalists including Stylist ’s Joanna McGarry, Vogue ’s Jessica Diner and The Telegraph ’s Kate Shapland; digital doyens including Mywardrobe.com founder Sarah Curran MBE and BeautyMART co-founders Anna-Marie Solowij and Millie Kendall MBE; and BAFTA award-winning filmmaker Philip Dupée.
Coterie guests meet in London four times a year to listen to influential hair and fashion experts provide insight into their careers and knowledge. Last year, we introduced a brand new live working formatted event – The Coterie: In Session, a merging of high fashion inspiration and client-friendly styling through discussions and demonstrations from hairdressing experts. The Coterie has also collaborated with London Fashion Week, showcasing exciting new designers and headline trends. Informal networking over drinks and canapés is enjoyed at every event, and every guest leaves with a goody bag provided by the event partner.
The Coterie also ventures outside the capital, with pop-up events currently hosted in Leeds, Manchester and Edinburgh, attended by existing members as well as a whole new audience.
